Introduction. Hypersensitivity pneumonia is one cause of chronic lung disease seen on computed tomography (CT) and can be seen in adults, secondary to external, and often, occupational allergens .It can be seen in children secondary to environmental allergens, but often, the allergen is not found.
Context: - Chronic hypersensitivity pneumonitis (CHP) has emerged from obscurity during the past 15 years and is now recognized as a very common form of fibrosing interstitial pneumonia but one that is frequently misdiagnosed both clinically and on surgical lung biopsy as usual interstitial pneumonia/idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis (UIP/IPF) or fibrotic nonspecific interstitial pneumonia.
Chronic hypersensitivity pneumonitis (CHP) refers to hypersensitivity pneumonitis where there is radiological evidence of fibrosis and represents the end-stage of repeated or persistent pneumonitis 7. Background: Hypersensitivity pneumonitis (HP) is an interstitial lung disease with a better prognosis, on average, than idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis (IPF). We compare survival time and pulmonary function trajectory in patients with HP and IPF by radiologic phenotype. Acute hypersensitivity pneumonitis on chest radiography. Anteroposterior chest radiograph shows extensive bilateral hazy areas of increased opacity (ground-glass opacities) and patchy areas of consolidation. The diagnosis of acute hypersensitivity pneumonitis (bird fancier’s lung) was based on the clinical findings and history of exposure.

Hypersensitivity pneumonitis (HP), also known as extrinsic allergic alveolitis, is an immune mediated lung disease occurring in response to repeated inhalation of an antigen. 1–6 It appears to be an underdiagnosed condition, often masquerading as a recurrent pneumonia, idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis, Hamman-Rich disease, or interstitial pneumonia.
The interstitium is expanded by a chronic inflammatory infiltrate. Two multinucleated giant cells can be seen within the interstitium at left, and a plug of organizing pneumonia at bottom left. 2020-08-20 Chronic hypersensitivity pneumonitis with a fibrotic, nonspecific interstitial pneumonia (NSIP) pattern in a patient with bird exposure. The biopsy shows a typical, fibrotic NSIP pattern.
